Record Participation from Japanese “Ichijo” Schools Signals Growing Shift Toward Bilingual and International Pathways
87 schools and organizations, and over 2,400 participants, came together to experience the cutting edge of English and global education

TOKYO / OSAKA, JAPAN — June 2025 — The International Education Expo Spring 2025–one of Japan’s largest international and bilingual education events–welcomed over 2,400 visitors across Tokyo and Osaka this May. Families with children from preschool through high school explored a wide range of school options. These included both established international schools and Japanese academic institutions increasingly focused on global education.
This year’s Expo featured 87 schools and organizations, with a record number of Japanese government-accredited “Ichijo” schools taking part. In a notable shift, the Tokyo venue hosted more Ichijo schools than international schools for the first time — reflecting a growing trend of Japanese academic institutions offering international curricula, English immersion, and overseas university guidance.
Highlights from the Expo
Hands-on workshops in STEAM, Montessori, and coding attracted enthusiastic participation from children of all ages.
Expert talk sessions on global education and international university admissions consistently filled to capacity.
One-on-one consultations with school representatives helped families gain direct insights into admissions, curriculum, and campus life.
Post-event surveys showed exceptionally high satisfaction:
91.8% rated the event as “Excellent” or “Good” (Tokyo: 93.2%, Osaka: 90.3%). 95.3% said they would attend again
